R.E. Warner & Associates, in association with Bay Mechanical & Electrical Corporation, provided design/build services for the installation of a 2MW back-up power generator system for the wastewater treatment facility upgrade. This project involved the specification, design, procurement, and installation of (2) 1MW natural gas generators, paralleling/peak shaving switchgear and generator controllers. Project services included preparation of detailed switchgear and generator equipment specifications, vendor bid review, procurement and expediting of vendor equipment, vendor drawing review and approval, and construction start-up scheduling.
The project included the replacement of an existing 12.47 KV switchgear line-up incorporated into the above paralleling/peak shaving switchgear line-up and associated plant 12.47 KV radial feeder cable relocation/re-routing. Short circuit and load summary calculations were performed utilizing Easy Power distribution software.
Protective device coordination study was performed for the paralleling/peak shaving switchgear Multilin 750-feeder relays, Multilin SR489 generator relays, and Basler tie breaker directional relay, 50/51, and under frequency digital relays utilizing Power Plot coordination software. Installation drawings consisted of 12.47 KV feeder plans, embedded conduit plans, exposed conduit plans, grounding plans, single line diagrams, distribution panel schedules, architectural plans, structural/foundation plans, civil site plan, and mechanical ventilation/piping plans. 600 KVAR power factor correction capacitors were also included in the system design and installation. Extensive on-site construction support and start up assistance was provided.
