We're thrilled to share the news that expansion has broken ground at Nucor Steel Berkeley! This project encompasses the construction of a new $425 million automotive-grade continuous galvanizing line executing the U.S. company’s strategic objective to increase market share in the automotive and consumer durables markets. Nucor’s Berkeley mill, located in South Carolina, produces flat-rolled steel that is used in cars, appliances, and many more everyday items.
The new line from
Primetals will have an annual capacity of approximately 500,000 tons and can produce uncoated annealed strip, zinc galvanized strip, and annealed galvanized steel strip – high-grade sheet metals for which demand is increasing. The expanded capacity also positions the company to meet growing customer demand for sustainable steel, as Nucor’s recycling-based steelmaking process results in significantly lower carbon emissions.
REW has provided pre-engineering, engineering, and construction administration services across the architectural, civil, structural, HVAC, mechanical, piping, process, and electrical disciplines.
