In Memoriam: Robert "Bob" Ramer

October 12, 1945 - June 21, 2025

October 12, 1945 - June 21, 2025

Bob-Ramer.JPGWe were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of retiree Bob Ramer, past REW Project Director. Bob retired in 2017 after 50 years with the firm. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, leadership, and kindness that continues to shape R.E. Warner today.

Bob joined the firm on June 1, 1967 as an entry-level draftsman while attending Lorain Community College. Over the course of his 50-year career, he rose through the ranks to become a shareholder, vice president, and project director, ultimately becoming one of the most influential figures in our firm’s history. He was instrumental in establishing and growing our automotive and manufacturing business and was a key force behind our successful relationships with major clients, including Honda and Ford.

His contributions helped lead the firm’s evolution from a steel mill service design firm into a multi-discipline architecture and engineering company serving a wide range of industries. His technical expertise and ability to build trusted relationships made him a leader within the firm and a highly respected figure in the industry.

Recently, we framed and hung several of Bob’s hand-drawn sketches of industrial building projects throughout the office. These incredibly detailed drawings are not only a reflection of his technical skill, but beautiful works of art that now serve as a lasting reminder of his legacy.

Besides project work, Bob gave his time and talent generously to support the engineering profession and the broader community. He was an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers, and he dedicated decades to mentoring youth through STEM programs, school partnerships, and math competitions. He received numerous accolades, including the SAE Distinguished Section Member Award, the chapter’s highest honor.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Bob was known for his love of cars, passion for mentoring, and deep care for others.

We send our deepest condolences to Bob's family. He will be dearly missed.
