PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

R.E. Warner provided structural engineering services to Waddell & Associates Architects, Inc. for design of a new 48,000 sf office building and 243,000 sf manufacturing plant for Eaton Corporation’s new heavy truck transmission facility in San Luis Potosi, Mexico . The new facility, which blends contemporary southwestern architecture with traditional design elements, will set a new world-class standard for Eaton.

The high-bay production facility houses the heat-treating process, cooling area, chip handling facility and truck loading docks. Adjacent to the production facility is a new office building with a two-story atrium, cafeteria, locker rooms, restrooms, kitchen, office space, conference rooms and training center. The office facility has many unique design features including curved stucco walls, extensive glass, an arched ceiling in the cafeteria, a sloping entry canopy and an open-air courtyard.

The project was completely designed to U.S. standards. The high-bay production facility required 60 ft clears spans and utilized concrete columns, trusses and joists that were cast onsite. The lightweight wall panels were also cast on site and erected using “tilt up” construction. Foundations consisted of reinforced concrete spread footers.
