This project consists of structural engineering design utilizing steel joist and metal decking while preserving the original architectural design and the installation of an entire new roof system on the former Coast Guard Station located on Whiskey Island.  The new roof will historically replicate the original roof design and profile as well as meet current design criteria and applicable codes. Project scope included:

  • A new roofing system over the existing boat house.
  • A new roof framing system for the existing boat house lantern roof.
  • A new roof framing system for the open air connector roof between the boat house and the quarters building.
  • A new roof framing system for the flat roof directly over the second floor of the quarters building and associated supports.
  • A new roof framing system for the second floor deck located over the first floor of the quarters building at the eastern end of the building.
  • A new roof framing system for the circular tower roof.
